Amazon lets you shop by texting Alexa
· Aster editorial team
AI-generated imageAmazon announced that customers can text-message Alexa’s AI agent to search for products, add them to a cart and buy them. You can also send a photo of an item or an outfit to find similar listings. Alexa will learn your preferences over time to suggest things. For now it is open only to select U.S. customers, and the company says it will reach millions in the coming weeks, ahead of holiday shopping.
Why it matters
Stores want you to shop through their own AI assistants, not those of other companies.
For the technical crowd
It follows Amazon blocking Meta’s Muse agent from its site in September. Those without an invitation can join a waitlist.
