Aster · About the site
Privacy notice
In short: Aster has no accounts, uses no analytics or tracking tools, and never receives your files.
Who is responsible
This notice explains how the Aster website (asternews.com) handles data. For any privacy question, write to [email protected].
What we don’t collect
Aster has no sign-up or accounts, no forms, no visitor analytics (such as Google Analytics) and no tracking pixels, and it shows no ads today.
What is stored in your browser
To remember your preferences, Aster stores some data in your browser’s local storage (localStorage): your language, theme, whether you want sound and animations, your progress and stats in the daily games, the stars of your daily constellation, the last settings you used in the tools, and your favorite wallpapers.
That data stays on your device: it isn’t sent to Aster or anyone else, and we can’t see it. You can delete it at any time in your browser settings (clear the site data for asternews.com). More on the cookies page.
The tools work on your device
The images you open in the Meme maker, the Compressor or the QR codes tool are processed inside your browser and never uploaded to any server. The same goes for cutting out people with AI: the model is downloaded to your browser and runs there.
The tuner uses your microphone only if you allow it and only while it’s on. The sound is analyzed on your device; it isn’t recorded or sent anywhere.
Third-party services
Cloudflare hosts and delivers the site. Like any web server, it receives technical data from each visit, such as your IP address and browser type, to deliver the pages and protect the site from attacks. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy.
Google Fonts serves the site’s typefaces. Your browser requests them from Google’s servers, which receive your IP address. See Google’s privacy policy.
NASA: some photos in the encyclopedia and the news load directly from images-assets.nasa.gov. See NASA’s privacy policy.
Links to other sites (news sources, for example) lead to pages with their own privacy rules.
If you write to us
If you email us, we use your address and message only to reply. We don’t share them or use them to send you advertising. If you want us to delete your messages, ask at the same address.
Ads in the future
If Aster shows ads later on (for example, from Google AdSense), we’ll update this notice and the cookie page before turning them on, and we’ll ask for your consent where the law requires it.
Changes
If we change this notice, the date above will show it.
