Arcadópolis: a retro computer full of games that opens in your browser
If you miss afternoons in front of a desktop computer, with windows, icons and games tucked away in folders, Arcadópolis will feel like home.
What is it?
Arcadópolis is a retro operating system that runs inside your browser. You land on a desktop with a taskbar, windows you can drag and resize, and folders full of apps and games. It’s free, has no ads and comes in Spanish and English.
Games for every taste
There are dozens of apps and games. You’ll find classics like chess, sudoku, mahjong, blackjack and pinball, plus a ten-category trivia game with a daily challenge and online matches. Chess even has a puzzle of the day: a mate in two, the same for everyone.
The musical side
This is where Arcadópolis stands out. Ocho Notas is a daily challenge: everyone gets the same eight notes to compose a melody and share it. Sísifo Feliz is a rhythm game where you hit the notes on time, and there’s also a music studio and a chiptune tracker for making music that sounds like an old console.
A 3D library and museum
Bibliópolis is a library you walk through in 3D, with 227 public-domain classics in Spanish and English that you can read right there. Pinacópolis is a museum with three wings, 40 rooms and more than 440 public-domain works.
Every theme changes everything
There are 102 themes, 22 of them free, and each one changes the desktop, the windows, the animated background and even the instrument you hear. You can also install it as an app, it works offline and some games can be played online against other people. It’s still in beta, so it keeps growing, and it’s for ages 16 and up.
Why we recommend it
It doesn’t feel like a pile of separate games; it feels like a place: a computer of your own where there’s always something new to open. If you enjoy Aster’s daily games, especially Note of the day, you’ll love the musical challenges in Arcadópolis.
