Google launches Gemini Omni 1.2 Flash: AI videos up to 15 seconds long and 30% cheaper
· Aster editorial team
AI-generated imageGoogle introduced Gemini Omni 1.2 Flash, a model that creates and edits videos from text, images or audio. Clips can now run up to 15 seconds, up from 10 in the previous version, and the price dropped 30%. You can fix a video by chatting with it, for example to change the background or lighting, without generating it again. It's available in the Gemini API, Google Cloud and apps such as Flow, Google Vids and the Gemini app for Google AI Ultra subscribers.
Why it matters
Making a short AI video is getting cheaper and easier to tweak, which brings the tool within reach of small businesses and creators. Every video carries an invisible SynthID watermark that helps identify it as AI-made.
If you make music, images or video
You can give it images of a character, product or style, motion clips up to 3 seconds long and audio cues, and it keeps them consistent across the video. Dialogue, lip-sync and scenes with several people speaking have improved. Google admits it still struggles with fast sports action and complex physics.
For the technical crowd
Price: $0.07 per second of 720p video. Length can be set from 3 to 15 seconds in one-second steps. You can draft at 360p or 720p, then upscale the final clip to 1080p or 4K. In Google Vids, 15-second clips come at no extra cost.
